Director of Annual Giving and Donor Engagement
SUMMARY: The Director of Annual Giving & Donor Engagement is a key member of a dynamic Development team. Responsible for crafting, managing, and executing the Woodwell Research Center’s annual giving program and coordinating special events through a variety of communications and fundraising strategies. Reporting to and working directly with the Chief Philanthropic Officer (CPO), the Director of Annual Giving & Donor Engagement plays a vital role in growing the philanthropic revenue for the organization. In collaboration with the CPO, responsibilities include meeting or exceeding the annual fund and events-related fundraising goals for a portfolio of over 1,100 donors. The position manages the growth of annual fund contributions; contributes to the implementation of special events relevant to growing the Center’s donor pool; represents the organization to donors, vendors, and the public; and produce various fundraising-related content. Day-to-day, the Director, on an as-needed basis, performs gift-entry, writes and edits correspondence and proposals, completes contacts reports, and performs other office functions.
- Management and implementation of Woodwell’s annual giving solicitations from conception to execution.
- Work with the CPO to establish long term fundraising goals and objectives.
- Craft and implement annual fund campaign strategies including direct mail, e-mail, phone, social media and digital marketing techniques to increase donor base.
- Collaborate with Communications colleagues to identify and develop external content and motivational messaging, news and stories for inclusion in appeals, social media, website, invitations, and other mediums as needed.
- Design and implement a new sustainer or automatic giving program.
- Ensure proper donor acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship to promote donor retention and increased levels of giving.
- Increase leadership annual giving donors through special stewardship initiatives that may include individualized donor interactions and recognition.
- Promote other DIY fundraising initiatives (i.e., Amazon Smile, car contributions, tribute giving and other initiatives) to increase annual giving donor pool.
- Collaborate with the CPO in ongoing evaluation of annual giving base for identification of major gift prospects.
- Assist with reporting and providing analysis on program metrics.
- Stay up-to-date with and implement digital marketing best practices.
- Provide project management support to other Woodwell campaigns as needed.
- Support the development and vibrancy of relationships with Woodwell’s strategic partners.
- Provide professional customer service to donors, volunteers, staff, and other contacts.
- Prepare data for the CPO and Board to share ongoing results.
- Maintain all relevant data in Raiser’s Edge database include donor meetings, correspondences, actions, etc
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- BA or BS degree
- 5 – 7+ years development experience

Classification and Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, the annual salary range is $120,000 – $140,000 dependent on qualifications/experience. Woodwell offers a generous benefits package and work life balance.
