The Congregational Home, d/b/a/ Brewster Place, a 501(c)(3) corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, seeks an accomplished Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is committed to take this trendsetting Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) to even greater heights.

Brewster Place, the only CCRC with Joint Commission accreditation in the state of Kansas and the repeated recipient of awards such as the PEAK (Promoting Excellent Alternatives in Kansas) Award, seeks a proven leader who will continue to implement Brewster Place’s mission and vision via a strong strategic plan. Additionally, the CEO is responsible for enhancing Brewster Place’s leading role in the ever-changing realm of senior care and enforce the guiding principles and policies established by the Board of Directors. Candidates are expected to have strong leadership skills, broad experience in aging services, and the ability to build strong relationships within the community. While transforming the quality of life of its current and future residents through exceptional, diverse and well-received cutting edge programming and facilities, the President and CEO reports to a 15-member governing Board and works collaboratively with the Brewster Place Foundation (with assets exceeding $2.7 million), Brewster at Home, LLC and its BrewsterConnectmembership, a stellar staff of 330 positions, and community partners to provide exceptional programming in state-of-the-art facilities on Brewster’s beautiful 40-acre urban campus. Brewster Place operates on an annual $20 million operating budget having recently completed a $30 million capital project that includes an indoor pool, auditorium/event space seating 200+, new dining and kitchen facilities, a large woodworking shop, an enhanced wellness center, and a multi-level parking structure enjoyed by 350 residents. Topeka, the state capital and third largest city in Kansas, is in the heart of Shawnee County where 180,000 Kansans call home. Straddling the Kansas River, Topeka is a thriving seat of government, education, cultural events, and entrepreneurial spirit. In 2017, Kiplinger Finance Magazine designated Topeka as one of the top ten cities for the next decade. Neighborhoods, schools, civic and cultural activities, and economic incentives combine to make Topeka one of the best small metros in the United States with an overall cost of living more than 10 percent below the national urban area average. There are 60,000 university students within a 60-mile radius of Topeka, including Topeka’s own Washburn University, Kansas University, Kansas State University and Emporia State University. The city draws young talent to make up a diverse and highly skilled workforce which adds to its vibrancy and appeal. The arts are alive and well in Topeka with more than 20 galleries, performing and visual artist venues, and the NOTO Arts District. The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library is world-class and recipient of the 2016 Library of the Year in the US and Canada. Topeka’s zoo enjoys an international reputation, the annual Sunflower Music Festival draws musicians from all over the world, and its parks and recreation services are stellar.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s Degree with Master’s preferred, Kansas Adult Care Home Administrator License or eligibility to attain such status within one year, demonstrated success in building essential relationships on and off the campus, competent leadership skills, and a working knowledge of budgeting and planning. The hiring salary is $200,000+ with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications, and an excellent benefits package. It is preferred that the President and CEO reside in Shawnee County, Kansas.
