Senior Technical Product Manager – Vertical Location Services

Position Summary

We are seeking a talented, passionate, self-starting Senior Technical Product Manager to join our Product team. You will be leading the effort to define key features and capabilities of NextNav’s Pinnacle Vertical Location Service.

You won’t be afraid of working under tight schedule in an interactive development environment with evolving features and capabilities. You are enthusiastic about new technologies, a fast learner and good problem solver.

You are able to write clear and concise product specifications, requirements and briefs that capture the features and functions for the engineering team to build to.  Work with stakeholder to source ideas, concepts to factor into the feature, capabilities, and specifications to meet the service evolution objectives and define outcomes for the specified features.

Responsibilities

·       Develop and maintain deep understanding of the Pinnacle service architecture and the Pinnacle roadmap to then use that knowledge to define features and capabilities to fit the evolution and vision for the pinnacle service.

·       Work with stakeholders to create, refine, enhance, update the feature and capabilities requirements and specification for the service evolution that targets both internal and external(customer) impacting releases.

·       Write and maintain the requirements, specifications, briefs to serve as the primary source of truth for features and capabilities for all internal stakeholders (business, engineering, test, customer support, management)

·       Be the owner of the specified feature and drive its’ design, development, rollout, release, and maintenance. Work with program management, engineering, test  to achieve successful outcomes

·       Answer questions and guide engineering and test teams as part of driving product/feature development and release

·       Lead and conduct Feature reviews with all stakeholders at the feature ideation stage and at the feature release stage.

·       Keep abreast of industry trends on location services and location applications/mapping to help shape and influence the requirements and specifications.

·       Manage the delivery of new products and services that utilize location data

·       Multi-task and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

Desired Skills & Experience

Required:

·       Bachelors/master’s in computer science or related field

·       10-15 years’ experience in performing requirements, architecture, specification and/or design with emphasis on location-oriented products and services

·       Proven track record of effectively introducing complex products and service that span mobile and server components

·       Prior direct work experience in a similar role 

Preferred:

  • Experience as product manager for location services on Android and/or iOS platforms
  • Experience as product manager for location services on IOT platforms and Map platforms
  • Deep and current  understanding of technology stack used in location services that span Mobile and Cloud        
  • Deep and current understanding of location providers, sensors, activity APIs on Android & iOS
  • Deep and current understanding of geo-data look-up, stream processing, data caching, storing and transformation
  • Deep and current understanding of time-series data handling and processing.

Physical Demands

·       Once Covid enables it safely, some travel for in-person customer meetings will be required.  Primary traveling will be US-based, but some international travel may be required.

·       Some Field observation of test systems or deployed systems may be required, possible in difficult weather conditions.

·       No other special physical demands

Work Environment

·       Primary work location will be the USA, with the preference being Sunnyvale

·       Will initially need to work from home due to Covid safety limitations, but may eventually be expected to operate primarily from the office with others there too, and so must be equally comfortable in both

·       Requires a willingness to often support international phone calls at hours significantly offset from normal US working hours (calls involving the internal dev team in India will be the most common, but partners and customers in Asia will also require phone support that must be covered by the candidate)
